I need some suggestions...

I'm pretty sure that Chad doesn't read this blog regularly (he's very busy at work and doesn't have much time to scan the internets for fun and when he's home he's busy hanging with the family)...

Anyway, I think it's safe to post this...but if you happen to see him this week, it means you're either in Switzerland or Germany and I'm jealous! If you see him, don't say anything!

But anyway, today was my lucky day.

Today was my first morning "off" in over two weeks. My kids have been on Spring Break for two weeks and they were both in school this morning. So I did what I love to do when my kids are not around, I went to Target.

I got a cup of Starbucks and leisurely strolled through the store. I picked up a few grocery items, a broom, a lint brush for the dryer (which I'm going to return, cuz it didn't really do anything), the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie (which I rented from Blockbuster and my kids loved), some toothbrushes that play the theme music to Mario Bros. for my kids (which can drive a sane person crazy in less than thirty seconds when they are being played simultaneously) and paper towels.

I was in the toy section, which is next to the Electronics department and that's when I saw it behind a locked glass door. A Wii console. I have been looking for a Wii console since last summer.

There was a Target employee buying a Wii console when I walked up to the cash register in the Electronics Department and I asked the guy behind the register if that was a Wii console behind the locked glass door, or just a display box. He said it was a Wii console and it was the last one. I told him I wanted it and five minutes later it was mine, all mine.

So here's where I need your suggestions.

I refrained from calling/texting Chad right away to tell him. He and G-man have both been wanting a Wii too. And seriously, it's he and G-man that will be playing it the most (I did buy myself American Idol...yes, call me a freak).

(He comes home late on Friday night, so I'm already planning to wait until Saturday morning to tell him...)

What would be the most fun way to tell Chad that I finally bought a Wii?

a. Tell him that I bought something for myself, using part of his recent bonus and come into the house with a Nordstrom bag that actually has the Wii console in it?

b. Say, "I bought you a new video game," and show him the Call of Duty (for Wii) box and see if he catches on?

c. Everything is in the trunk of his car right now. Do I ask him to get some stuff that I left in his trunk?

d. ???

(I am not tech savvy enough to set up the Wii all by myself and have it ready and waiting for him, so don't suggest that)

Opening the box is one of the fun parts of a new toy, so I don't hold against you not hooking it up yourself.

Obviously, (and I hope I'm not crossing...you know) but what 21st century American man wouldn't remember forever the night his wife called him into the room and there she was in a nighty, with a six-pack, and a brand new Wii.
He would fondly remember that on his deathbed.
OR
Put it in the fridge and have him get you the eggs for breakfast.

Awesome Surprise. I like A the best of your suggestions my D though: Is the sucker punch. Email or Text him today... and say I got you a little something to start off the spring. Then when he comes home have an absolutely awful Spring type of gift (seeds, a make your own bird feeder kit, One of those cheap awful velcro ball games). Then leave it out for him in a place he will have to see it, with a little note, Happy SPRING!. He will be so befuddled by the Jet-lag, having just been on a plane for 8-9 hours and why in the heck you would have ever thought that this was an exciting spring gift. He will chuckle to himself and then go to bed amused at your insanity. Then the following morning surprise him with the real gift, and be prepared to hand over your Saturday to Wii.

Oddly when I was back in the States, when the field and I had nothing to do we often went to Target. My good friend who I ref on my blog, #13 he often calls me from Target. I think Target is perfect for people over Barnes and Noble.

I like FD's idea actually. Buy him a small tree to plant and say you thought he would really like it.

We have a Wii, and my boys, ages 4 and 2, LOVE it. My 4 yr old is almost impossible to beat at Tennis. he beat 2 12 yr olds last week, over and over.

Dave - your first idea is awesome and I'm seriously considering it.

fd - your first suggestion had me laughing...a make your own bird feeder kit is so not up his alley.

teamslinger - I'm excited to see my 6 year old's reaction too. He's played the Wii at several friends' houses and doesn't understand why we haven't bought one yet.

I think you should show him an Avon catalog, point out a manly cologne, and ask if he might enjoy it for an early birthday present, since Neiman Marcus ran out of Acqua di Parma.

If you don't go with the "nightii" option, I'll seriously consider not reading this blog any more ;)
